Japan's Indo-Pacific Strategy and the Role of Official Development Assistance

In August 2016, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a ‘free and open Indo-Pacific Strategy' to promote global stability and prosperity by combining two continents – a rapidly growing Asia and a developing Africa – as well as two oceans – the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The speaker will discuss the aims of this policy, including the role of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through official development assistance.
