Aung San Suu Kyi, Burmese democracy campaigner, was voted the winner of the Chatham House Prize 2011 by Chatham House members.

Special Representative for Climate Change, Mexico
Ambassador Luis Alfonso de Alba is nominated for his role in preparing and leading the negotiations in Cancún in December 2010 which put global climate negotiations back on track following the multilateral stand-off in Copenhagen the previous year. As Mexico's Special Representative for Climate Change, he played a critical behind-the-scenes role, using a range of diplomatic tools and transparent and inclusive processes.

Governor, Central Bank of Malaysia

Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz is widely acclaimed for her leadership in Southeast Asia in the aftermath of the global financial crisis of 2008-09. In 2010, she played a crucial role in the regional response to unprecedented inward capital flows, and in tackling the subsequent threats of inflation and asset bubbles. Dr Zeti's proactive and pre-emptive policy interventions are recognized as having helped prevent destabilizing effects on the Malaysian economy and as having served as an example to financial and political leaders across the region.

Chairman, Wipro Limited

Azim Premji is nominated for having taken a major step in 2010 in the field of philanthropy in India. In December, Mr Premji gave US$2 billion of his personal wealth to fund much-needed education initiatives in the country. This donation is by far the largest act of personal philanthropy by an Indian citizen, and Mr Premji has called for other wealthy Indians to follow his example so as to help move India rapidly out of the ranks of developing nations.
