Claire is head of global engagement in the Financial Services Policy team at HSBC Holdings plc where she is responsible for managing how the group engages at the global level both internally and externally on public policy formulation. Having originally joined HSBC in 2007 to work with Lord Stern, advising the bank on economic development and climate change, she continues to work actively for HSBC on the green growth agenda. She has a masters in international political economy from LSE where she focused on the politics of money and international diplomacy, and an MBA from SDA Bocconi.
Geneviève joined Chatham House in October 2011 having previously completed an internship with the Corporate Membership team at the institute. She holds a Masters in Intelligence and International Security from King’s College London and a BA in European Social and Political Studies from UCL. Geneviève also studied at l’Université Lumière Lyon 2 and spent time in the United States as an English Speaking Union Scholar. Her particular areas of interest include intelligence failures and Franco-American relations.
Rosehanna studied her LLB and LLM in International Business Law at the London School of Economics. She managed her own business at the age of 23, then went on to work for a multi-national business consultancy before moving to the civil service to work on civil contingencies in the Cabinet Office. Rosehanna is currently chair of the LSE Civil Service, Government and Public Policy Alumni Group and advisor to the Chid in Need India charity (CINI UK).
Greg joined Eurasia Group’s advisory team in February 2012. His work involves helping corporate clients manage risk in overseas markets. Before that he worked as a strategy consultant at KPMG, and as an analyst in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Policy Unit focusing on strategy, Middle East policy and the UK's global role. Greg has also spent time at RAND Corporation and International Crisis Group. He completed a Masters in International Relations at Cambridge and studied History at Durham. He is particularly interested in geopolitical trends, energy and natural resources, and international security.
Charlie joined Standard Chartered's Public Affairs team in 2008 and focuses on UK government relations, Africa and China market support, internal communications and event management, including the UK political party conferences in 2009/10.
Previously Charlie has worked for a variety of organisations including a children's charity in India and a hydro-electric power company in Vancouver, Canada. Charlie holds a BA in Politics from Cardiff University.
Michael joined the Financial Services group at HM Treasury in January 2012. Prior to this he was an independent consultant who contributed to the Chatham House-YouGov Survey 2011 and to Chatham House’s project on Rethinking the UK's International Ambitions and Choices. Previously, he worked as a research assistant (London-based) at New York University's Center on International Cooperation, including on projects for the British Council, the Brookings Institution and Chatham House. Michael holds a BA in Economics, Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick and an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge.
Guillaume Jan is a Vice President at Citi Investment Banking in London, advising European-based corporates and investment funds on their strategic transactions. Guillaume is also a reservist Officer in the French Navy and his interests include finance, defence and politics. Prior to working in finance, Guillaume interned at the French Embassy in Slovenia. Guillaume graduated from HEC Paris in 2005.
Laura is an Account Director at Portland, where she works on communications strategy and outreach, training and capacity building for international clients. She works across corporate, development and government clients, with a focus on overseas governments in the Middle East and Central Asia. Previously Laura worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where she was speechwriter to the Minister of State for Africa, Asia, the UN and Human Rights, and an analyst focused on Africa and conflict issues in the Strategy Unit. She previously worked at Polis, the media think tank at the London School of Economics, and the Foreign Policy Centre. She has a degree in History from the University of Cambridge and a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
Jane Levy joined Chatham House in May 2009 and heads the Individual Membership team, looking after all individual members as well as the Annual Fund. Previously she worked for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Worldwide as Membership Manager, providing support for 14,000 trust and estate lawyers worldwide. Originally from Melbourne, she has also worked for the international university, CQU in a student welfare role. Jane received her Business Management and Economics Degree and Graduate Certificate in Management from Monash University, Australia.
John heads the European office of OneVoice, an international movement working toward an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and is responsible for providing international coordination for much of the activity and campaigns that OneVoice’s offices in the region pursue. Originally from Ireland, he holds a BA in English and History from University College Dublin, and an MA in International Relations from the University of Sheffield, wining the Bethan Reeves Memorial Prize for his dissertation focusing on security and hegemony in the Greater Middle East. Prior to his work in the Middle East, John ran the Irish office of Ethiopiaid, focusing on developmental issues in Ethiopia, where he led the organisation’s expansion into eastern regions of the country.
Born in Iran, Bonnie studied at St Andrews University and Oriel College, Oxford. She has worked for several NGOs, an MP and at BBC Monitoring. Bonnie now works as a world affairs analyst for BBC News, focusing on South Asia and the Middle East.
David McNair is Head of Growth, Equity and Sustainable Livelihoods at Save the Children UK. Here he leads a team working on economic policy and advocacy, focussed on growth, livelihoods, resource constraints, social protection and markets. Previously, David led Christian Aid's work on tax and development, and played a key role in turning a niche NGO campaign into a global issue on the agenda of the G20, EU, OECD, UN and many international businesses and civil society networks. David has served as a trustee for Tax Justice Network, Jubilee Debt Campaign (UK), and Debt and Development Coalition Ireland. He was also an active member of the OECD's Informal Task Force on Tax and Development. He holds a PhD in Social Geography from the Queen's University of Belfast.
Tarek is the COO and a Founding Partner of Tyndaris, an alternative investment fund based in London. Prior to Tyndaris, Tarek was an investment analyst in GLG Partners and part of the business strategy team for five years. Before working in finance, Tarek completed his PhD in Applied Superconductivity at the University of Cambridge and an engineering degree from Imperial College London. A Ghanaian national, Tarek is active in the for-profit and non-profit sectors in Africa (he is a trustee of the Jane Goodall Institute and Arms Around the Child), with a particular interest on the impact of foreign direct investment on development. Tarek is also an Ironman.
Sylvain joined Morgan Stanley in 2007 as a Credit Derivatives structurer. He is currently an Interest Rates trader, responsible for Sterling denominated Agencies and Cross Currencies Floating Rates Notes trading. Prior to this current role he worked as an Equity Swaps trader. He also worked at Bank of America in London as well as UBS in Chicago. Sylvain graduated as a Mechatronics Engineer at King's College London. Citizen of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sylvain lived and studied mainly in Belgium before finishing his studies in London.
Neave O’Clery is a Wellcome Trust Doctoral Researcher in Mathematics at Imperial College London, currently working on theoretical approaches to the analysis of dynamical behaviour of graphs and networks. Neave is also Founder and current Editor-in-Chief of A Global Village, Imperial College's journal on international affairs which focuses on key areas where science and technology meet policy and politics such as global health, energy and the environment, and the cyber-sphere. Neave gained a BSc (hons) from University College Dublin (2007), during which time she also spent a year at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. She subsequently undertook an MSc in Mathematical Modelling at Lincoln College, University of Oxford (2008).
Sara joined Chatham House in September 2008. Prior to this she worked at the House of Lords with the Lords of Appeal. Sara also interned in the Parliamentary Office of Liberal Democrat MP Andrew Stunell in 2006. Sara obtained her MA from King's College London in International Peace and Security and her BA from Westminster University in Politics.
Sarah joined BGR Gabara as an associate in September 2011. She is a political analyst and strategic communications consultant with expertise in European Union, Central Asian and former Soviet Union affairs. Prior to this she spent two years as political affairs advisor to the EU Delegation in Kazakhstan. She has also worked as assistant to the EU Special Representative for Central Asia in Brussels and at the OSCE headquarters in Vienna. Sarah holds a BA in German and Russian from Bristol University and an MPhil in International Relations from Cambridge University.
Leo von Bülow-Quirk is a Partner and Global Head of Research at Chartwell, a specialist speaker bureau with operations in London, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai and Singapore. Here he co-ordinates an international network to source speakers for conferences and events in the financial and professional services industry. Prior to joining the firm in 2010, Leo completed an undergraduate degree in Classics at the University of Cambridge and an MSc in International Relations Theory at the London School of Economics. He also worked for three years as a drummer and songwriter with Columbia Records.
Milly teaches philosophy at the University of Roehampton, London, and is also an Honorary Research Associate at the Department of Science and Technology Studies, UCL. Born in Ethiopia and educated in Britain, she read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Somerville College, Oxford, and then did an MPhil in Philosophy at King's College, Cambridge. She was awarded her PhD in Philosophy from the University of York and her interests are in philosophical psychology, ethics, and aesthetics - in particular, the role of art and culture in social and intellectual change and innovation. Milly has also worked as programme co-ordinator for the NGOs Index on Censorship and Hostage UK, and has written on international relations for Prospect magazine and The Atlantic (USA), among others.
