Overview

Since 1999, China has been engaged in a ‘Go Out policy' to deepen the globalization of its economy by investing abroad. While historically China has not been an outward investor, in the last decade it has acquired assets in over 120 countries in a variety of sectors.

The speakers will discuss Chinese investment in Europe, one of the most keenly followed stories in the global economy in recent years. The discussion will see the launch of two ECRAN papers: Chinese Overseas Direct Investment in the European Union (Professor Jeremy Clegg and Dr Hinrich Voss) and Chinese Investment in the Greater Europe Zone (Dr Thierry Apoteker).

This event is part of the Europe China Research and Advice Network (ECRAN) project, which is funded by the European Union.
