Fiona Forde, Author, An Inconvenient Youth: Julius Malema and the New ANC
DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
Once acclaimed a 'future leader' by South Africa's leadership Julius Malema, the ousted former ANCYL leader, now occupies the most controversial position in the country’s political life. Despite his ability to win media coverage, Malema's influence may be waning. He is due to appear in court on corruption charges on 30 November, only two weeks before the 53rd ANC National Conference in which President Zuma will fight for a second term and party members will decide on the extent of state intervention in the economy, particularly in the mining sector.
By looking at the role Julius Malema is playing in South Africa's politics, Fiona Forde will assess the dynamics that are currently shaping South Africa's politics and implications for the country's political and economic future.
