The speaker will outline key priorities that need to be addressed in order to tackle Europe's financial turmoil, weak public finances, anaemic growth and high unemployment. While progress has been made, he will argue that fiscal consolidation remains a challenge and discuss how policymakers can strike a balance between strengthening public finances, sustaining demand and promoting growth.
