Presidential and legislative elections in Madagascar are scheduled for 2013. The elections might help end a crisis that followed the overthrow of constitutional rule in March 2009. A slow burning social and economic disaster is developing, yet Malagasy political leaders have resisted compromise until now.

This event will launch the publication of an Africa Programme Paper on the crisis and participants will assess why the crisis matters to the international community, its response, and potential ways forward.

Attendance is by invitation only.
