The Future of Drug Policy in the Americas

Chatham House, London

International Security Department, Drugs and Organized Crime

Overview

Following the leadership of a number of countries including Guatemala, a wide-ranging process is now under way at the Organization of American States (OAS) to re-evaluate current drug policies in the Americas.

This roundtable event will provide an update on the work being conducted by the OAS in particular and explore ways forward for drug policy in the region. Questions that will be considered include: What will happen following the conclusions of the OAS reports? How can the policy recommendations be implemented and made palatable at a political level? What could be the consequences for other regions and the broader international drug control regime?

This event is part of a project on Drugs and Organized Crime.

Attendance is by invitation only.
