The External Action Service and the Future of European Diplomacy
This project is examining the role of the European External Action Service. As Europe's new diplomatic corps begins to take shape, the project will assess the post-Lisbon foreign policy environment and consider the following questions:
- What value can the EAS can bring to the objective of strengthening the EU's role in the world, and in particular in Europe's neighbourhood and through the strategic partnerships?
- What is the optimal organisational structure of a 21 century diplomatic service?
- What should the priorities be for the EAS in its first two years?
This project is led by Europe Programme Associate Fellow, Professor Richard Whitman. In partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung
