This project is examining the role of the European External Action Service.As Europe's new diplomatic corps begins to take shape, the project will assess the post-Lisbon foreign policy environment and consider the following questions:

• What value can the EAS can bring to the objective of strengthening the EU's role in the world, and in particular in Europe's neighbourhood and through the strategic partnerships?
• What is the optimal organisational structure of a 21 century diplomatic service?
• What should the priorities be for the EAS in its first two years?
