This MENA Programme research project seeks to anticipate future scenarios for the political and economic development of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and to promote a deeper understanding of the dynamics of change across the Persian Gulf region, including regional tensions over Iran, Iraq’s security crisis and Yemen. A key component of the project is developing an open and expanding network of young researchers and commentators from the GCC countries to generate fresh thinking on policy. Through workshops, field research and high-level briefings, the project provides analysis on a variety of themes, including economic development and political reform, regional tensions and foreign policy, identities politics, and internal community relations, in a diverse and fast-changing part of the world.
