Our work on UK policy towards Africa examines how engagements are affected by the UK’s changing relationship with the European Union, and by the shifting international balance of power.
A conference in 2017 discussed what the UK’s vision and strategy for its post-Brexit Africa engagement should be, and what further research is needed to support policy-makers and to generate a broader understanding of challenges ahead. In 2015 a high level roundtable reviewed the UK’s Africa Prosperity Agenda and ‘Golden Thread’ policies.
In 2011 Chatham House published several papers related to different aspects of UK policy, including on the emerging development policies in Africa of Scotland and Wales and UK foreign policy trends in Africa.
