Geopolitics and Governance

With the US increasingly oriented towards domestic issues, China is increasingly a key player in both international and regional governance.

There remains many competing visions of order throughout the Asia-Pacific region, across the security, economic and political spheres. The end result is a complex regional situation, which is highly interdependent, diverse and diffuse, and does not fit neatly into a Washington/Beijing nexus.

In addition, there is a need to ensure respect for rule of law at international, regional and national levels so people can enjoy their human rights and exercise fundamental freedoms.

The Asia-Pacific programme analyses key geopolitics and governance challenges and opportunities across the region in order to provide evidence-based policy analysis and recommendations.

Key projects include Asia-Pacific in a Dynamic WorldKorea Foundation Korea Fellowship and Geostrategic Outlook for the Indo-Pacific 2019-2024.
