Cross-border Data Sharing Taskforce

The Digital Society Programme convenes a high-level taskforce aimed at improving trust, norms and structures around government access to personal data in security contexts.

Data transfers and government access to personal data for national security and law enforcement purposes are vital means of preventing national security threats and cross-border crime.

In the absence of agreed international standards, efforts are focused on strengthening voluntary norms and principles around cross-border data transfer.  The taskforce will work to strengthen the multi-stakeholder basis of the dialogue, with the aim of supporting complementary multilateral efforts.
