The US withdrawal from the JCPOA has complicated EU, UK and regional relations with Iran while also increasing economic pressure through sanctions. The emergence of Russia and China as important actors and interlocutors in the Middle East adds a new dimension and opportunity for Tehran.
Against this backdrop, Iran’s contradictory politics, decision-making processes and ability to weather new sanctions remains as opaque as ever. Amidst international pressure and economic unrest seen since early 2018, the outcome of forthcoming elections and political succession seems more uncertain.
The Iran Forum will provide forward-looking, innovative and regionally-led research and analysis designed to answer critical questions on the country’s political, social and economic evolution.
Through workshops and the establishment of an international network of Iran experts, the forum will deepen cross-sector collaboration, broaden outreach and dissemination, and provide a unique resource for policymakers, businesses and the wider research community working on Iran.
