Biography
Ben is a leading specialist on African politics and conflict, policy formulation and applied analysis. He has a broad range of experience across West and Central Africa, with a particular focus on the DRC and wider Great Lakes region.
He has significant direct experience of bridging the gap between cutting-edge academic insight and real-world, practical policy advice, notably as the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) specialist on Central Africa and African conflict (2004-2011).
He was a research fellow in international relations at the London School of Economics (2009-10) and has degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Bristol.
