Biography
Kenneth Cukier is Senior Editor for Digital Products at The Economist and the host of its weekly podcast on technology. He is also the co-author of Big Data: A Revolution that Transforms How We Live, Work and Think, a New York Times bestseller that has been translated into more than 20 languages.
His TED Talk on artificial intelligence, data and society has over one million views. Previously he was a foreign correspondent for two decades in Europe, America and Asia (notably in Japan 2007–12, during the Fukushima meltdown).
From 2002 to 2004 he was a Research Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. His writings have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times and Foreign Affairs, among others. He has been a frequent commentator on business and technology for CBS, CNN, NPR and the BBC.
Kenneth serves on the board of directors of International Bridges to Justice, a Geneva-based NGO promoting legal rights in developing countries, and The Open String, which provides classical instruments to children in poverty. He is a trustee of Chatham House and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
