Mary Francis CBE, LVO

Mary Francis’s career has spanned the public and private sectors, with a focus on global financial services and energy.   

Mary is currently Senior Independent Director of PensionBee plc and a non-executive Director of Barclays plc.

She was formerly a senior civil servant in HM Treasury, the British Embassy in Washington DC and 10 Downing Street.  She subsequently became Director General of the Association of British Insurers.

Mary has held a number of other non-executive roles, including Senior Independent Director of Centrica plc, and a non-executive director of Swiss Re AG, Aviva plc, and the Bank of England.  She has also served as a member of the Governing Council of Newnham College Cambridge, a Trustee of the Almeida Theatre, and a member of the advisory boards of the National Consumer Council and the Cambridge University Institute for Business Research.
