Biography

Nikolay is leading a project on Russia’s policy in the Middle East for Chatham House, having previously been the 2015 Academy Robert Bosch Fellow in the Russia and Eurasia Programme.

He is also currently an associate research professor in the geopolitics of energy at the Gulf Studies Center of Qatar University.

He received a PhD in the economic security of the Middle East from St Petersburg State University in 2010.

His research focuses on Russian policy in the Middle East and the Caspian region. He has been a visiting fellow at a number of leading international think-tanks including the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and the Carnegie Moscow Center.
