Dr Rhodri Williams

Biography

Since 2018 Rhodri has been a senior adviser to Wallbrook, part of Anthesis, a leading provider of advisory and due diligence services to investors, companies and NGOs. 

Until December 2024 he was head of international public policy at AIG, where he was responsible for a wide-ranging programme of international thought leadership initiatives on global issues, collaborating with think-tanks around the world. 
 


Prior to taking up his current position, Rhodri was chief of staff to the president and CEO of AIG in New York.  

He joined AIG in 2013 as strategic adviser to the CEO EMEA after a 23 year-career as a British diplomat, which included overseas postings to Vienna and Amman, and a range of senior policy roles, latterly as a director and with a focus on South Asia and Afghanistan.

Rhodri joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from Oxford University, where he was tutorial fellow in Modern History at St Peter’s College and university lecturer in Modern History from 1985-90, having earlier been lecturer in Politics at Balliol College and a prize research fellow at Nuffield College.

Rhodri has M.A. and D.Phil. degrees from Oxford University and in 2021 qualified as a business coach with Meyler Campbell. 

He is a visiting professor at the University of Strathclyde and a member of the Development Advisory Board of Swansea University.   

From 2018 to 2022 Rhodri served on the Advisory Board of the Royal United Services Institute.
