Stefan Cibian
Associate Fellow, Africa Programme
Biography
Dr Ștefan Cibian is an associate fellow with the Chatham House Africa Programme. He is co-founder and executive director of the Făgăraș Research Institute and visiting lecturer with the MA Programme in International Development at the Political Science Department in Babeș-Bolyai University.
He previously worked with the World Bank Group, the Central European University (CEU), the Association for Community Relations, the European Commission, and the EU Delegation to Senegal.
He received his PhD degree in political science and international relations (2012) and his MA in public policy (2006) from CEU. He holds a BA in political science from Babeș-Bolyai University and in law from 1 December 1918 University.
He has also conducted research at the UCLA, University of Ljubljana, and Salzburg University.
Stefan serves on the board of the following organizations: FOND, the Romanian NGDO platform; GRASP, the Global Romanian Society of Young Professionals; CONCORD – the European NGO Confederation for Humanitarian Aid and Development; Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation; the Romanian Federation of Community Foundations; ARCADIA, the Romanian Association for International Cooperation and Development; UiPath Foundation; and Mihai and Maria Frățilă Foundation.
