William George

Biography

William was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 2007. He completed regimental positions in Germany and the UK, including three operational tours to Iraq (2008) and Afghanistan (2010 and 2012). He was promoted to Major in 2014 and took language courses in Russian, which included a period at a language school in Kyiv.

William was selected as Deputy Defence Attaché to the South Caucasus with responsibility for Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, focusing on capacity building and reform in the security sector. A subsequent posting to NATO Allied Land Command HQ in Izmir, Turkey followed. He was employed within the busy Operations Division, which included responsibilities for the response to Russian aggression in Ukraine, the integration of Finland and Sweden into the Alliance, and standardization of the NATO doctrine.


He is married to Lydia with two small children and as a family they love travel and sport.
