Kate Gibbons has global responsibility for knowledge at the international law firm of Clifford Chance.
She also chairs its Thought Leadership Board and Knowledge Committee, organises and sits on its London and Global Legal Opinions Committees and its Executive Operations Group.
During her career as a finance and capital markets partner, she has worked in Clifford Chance's offices in Tokyo, Hong Kong and London.
Her current specialisms include:
- Brexit – she works on Clifford Chance's Brexit markets group. She also supports the Brexit work of the Financial Markets Law Committee, which is a charity concerned with education and the advancement of the understanding of financial markets law, of which she is both a director and Committee member; and
- Security law reform – she represented the UK Government in discussions on the UNCITRAL Legislative Guide on Secured Transactions, and has worked on various City of London Law Society initiatives considering security reform proposals.
Kate has been active in Chatham House's work in connection with the W20.
She holds a Law Degree from University College London and is a "distinguished commercial practitioner" at Harris Manchester College Oxford.
She is a director of Pro Corda, a charity dedicated to excellence in chamber music and outreach work for the community, based at Leiston Abbey in Suffolk but offering national ensemble provision across the UK.
