The Syria and its Neighbours Policy Initiative is a multiyear research project on the long-term impact of the conflict on neighbouring countries.
The conflict in Syria has placed an enormous strain upon its immediate neighbours, as they not only seek to accommodate Syrian refugees, but also manage the spillover effect on existing social, political, demographic, economic and security challenges.
Launched in 2014, the Syria and its Neighbours Policy Initiative is a major multiyear research project that seeks to promote a better understanding of these challenges and their impact on the neighbouring states; Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Israel. The initiative convenes an expert network of governments, academics, civil society figures from across the Middle East and internationally with the aim of supporting the development of a coordinated and holistic policy response that addresses the conflict’s regional dynamics and long term implications.
