Emerging powers are shifting the global military balance. In order to strengthen security, approaches to defence cooperation must reflect this new reality.
This conference will assess what capabilities are required to respond to the global security landscape and consider how governments, industry and multilateral institutions can work together to respond to the world’s paramount security concerns.
International policy-makers and business leaders will assess the challenges and opportunities for future defence cooperation in the light of the changing nature of global military spending, emerging national priorities and the impact of new technologies.
Key questions for discussion will include:
- How is the changing global military economy affecting the global defence industry?
- What political, economic and technical factors are causing national armed forces to be more interconnected?
- Is the export and import of defence- related hardware and systems effectively regulated?
- What are the unique threats posed by space security and what can be learned from recent efforts to ensure cooperation between emerging and established powers?
The Chatham House Rule
To enable as open a debate as possible, this conference will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
