Lieutenant General Jörg Vollmer took office as the Chief of the German Army in 2015, after he was assigned as Commander of the German Field Army and Vice Chief of the German Army. Mechanized Infantry Officer by profession, he commanded several units, including a Paratrooper Batallion, The Mechanized Infantry Brigade 37 and the Rapid Response Force Division. He twice commanded the Regional Command North in ISAF Operations. In addition he was assigned to several staff positions in various Commands. He furthermore holds a Diploma in Economical Science from the Army University in Hamburg, as well a Master Degree from the School for Advanced Military Studies in Leavenworth / USA.
