Ambassador Richard Burt is Managing Director for Europe, Russia and Eurasia at McLarty Associates. He served in the Reagan administration as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Canadian Affairs and then as US Ambassador to Germany from 1985 to 1989. Under President George H.W. Bush, he served as US Chief Negotiator in the Strategic Arms Reduction Talks with the former Soviet Union. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the foreign policy journal National Interest, and is a senior adviser to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, member of the Council on Foreign Relations and member of the executive board of the Atlantic Council. He also serves on a number of prominent corporate boards.
