Dilek Kurban is the Marie Curie Fellow at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and a member of the European Commission’s Network of Independent Experts in the Non-Discrimination Field as the Turkey expert. Before joining the Hertie School, she was the Mercator-IPC Research Fellow at the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) in Berlin. Prior to relocating to Berlin, she was engaged in policy-oriented research as the Director of the Democratization Program at the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV). She has published on the Kurdish question, internal displacement, human rights, minority rights, media freedom and anti-discrimination in Turkey. She received her Juris Doctor (JD) from Columbia Law School and holds a Master in International Affairs (MIA) from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
