Etele Baráth is President of the Steering Committee of Europe 2020, Honorary Professor at Budapest University of Economics (Corvinus), and a former Minister for European Affairs in the Hungarian government (2004–06). He was responsible for public construction and infrastructure development in three different governments between 1988 and 2004, and has written numerous publications on regional development and urban sciences. He was Vice-President of the Hungarian Economic Chamber (1992–95) and has been a member of the European Economic and Social Committee since 2010.
