Sarah Kirchberger


Dr Sarah Kirchberger is Head of the Center for Asia-Pacific Strategy and Security at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University (ISPK). A former Assistant Professor of Sinology at the University of Hamburg, she previously served as a naval analyst with shipbuilder Blohm + Voss. Her published work includes the monograph Assessing China's Naval Power: Technological Innovation, Economic Constraints, and Strategic Implications (2015), a German-language monograph on informal rules of politics in China and Taiwan (2004), and various articles on topics including arms development, Chinese–Russian military cooperation and military-strategic trends in the Asia-Pacific. She holds an MA and a PhD in Sinology from the University of Hamburg.
