The panellists will consider how the role of ambassadors is being transformed in an increasingly connected world. They will explore the impact of instant communications and whether social media could dramatically change the nature of diplomatic interaction by allowing embassies to engage more effectively with local communities. The speakers will also explore how the UK’s changing strategic priorities affect the role of ambassadors and the positioning of embassies.
