Tom Fletcher, UK Ambassador to Lebanon (2011-15); Author, Naked Diplomacy: Power and Statecraft in a Digital Age
Jeremy Bowen, Middle East Editor, BBC
Sarah Brown, President, Theirworld; Executive Chair, Global Business Coalition for Education
Tom Fletcher, former British ambassador to Lebanon – the youngest appointed ambassador for 200 years – will speak about how social media has empowered diplomats to influence the countries in which they work in new and wide-ranging ways.
Offering real-world examples of how diplomacy continues to have a significant impact on people's lives, he will discuss what he sees as the core principles of a progressive 21st century foreign policy: how to balance interventionism and national interest, use global governance to achieve national objectives and set out an agenda for representative international systems.
The event will be followed by a reception.
