Overview

In 2016, the Office of the Public Protector investigated alleged improper and unethical conduct by the South African presidency following claims that a wealthy family had undue influence over it.  Advocate Thuli Madonsela, public protector of South Africa at the time of the investigation, will outline the key findings of her ‘State of Capture’ report published in November 2016, and discuss the significance of state accountability for constitutionalism and nation-building in South Africa.
