Are Gulf Countries Doing Enough to Protect their Digital Economies from Cybercrime?

This roundtable will present findings from a new Chatham House report on cybercrime and the digital economy in the GCC. Discussion will offer an overall picture of the state of the digital economy in the GCC and of progress to date in the region’s attempted digital transformation. It will also highlight the shared regional cybercrime challenges as well as their impact. The discussion will focus on the extent and effectiveness of existing measures – including legal instruments – for countering cybercrime, and will discuss the areas for improvements to the policy regime and for potential intergovernmental cooperation.
