Overview

The conference will explore ASEAN’s role as a critical actor in southeast Asia, and the nature of its contemporary relations with Japan. The overarching focus of the conference will be ASEAN’s unique institutional identity, its potential future trajectories, and ways to engage with Japan.

The conference will launch the research paper ASEAN’s Regional Role and Relations with Japan: The Challenges of Deeper Integration by Bill Hayton, Masahiro Kawai and Moe Thuzar, who will present their findings at the event.
