With Africa’s youth population expected to double by 2050, it is projected that a quarter of the world’s population will live on the continent, mostly in its fast-growing cities. While Africa’s prospective youth bulge is widely seen as a demographic dividend leading to sustainable economic growth and development, if the right conditions are not created, Africa’s young people may face an insecure and unstable future.
At this event, the speakers will examine some of the challenges facing Africa’s next generation, including, population growth with improved digital access, job creation and managing rural-urban migration. They will also explore practical policy options for this generation, to properly prepare African economies for the coming decades and to harness the talent of its young people.
This event will be the UK launch of Making Africa Work: A Handbook for Economic Success co-written by Greg Mills, Jeffrey Herbst, Olusegun Obasanjo and Dickie Davis and published by Hurst Publishers.
THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL AND REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED.
