At a time when European Union member states face electoral challenges from right-wing, Eurosceptic, populist movements, the UK government is poised to trigger the formal process of withdrawing the country from the European Union.

Against this backdrop of unprecedented threats to the stability of the EU, Guy Verhofstadt – the European Parliament’s chief negotiator for Brexit and former prime minister of Belgium – will set out his vision for the future of the political order in Europe.

This event is organized in association with Liberal International and is the organization’s 2017 Isaiah Berlin Lecture.The president of Liberal International, Dr. Juli Minoves, will offer some brief remarks at the opening of the lecture.
