Bridging the Financial Inclusion Gap in Africa

1 July 2016 - 5:00pm to 6:30pm

Chatham House, London

Over the past decade, most African countries have experienced significant economic growth. Despite the importance of promoting sustainable, equitable access to economic opportunities, only a third of adults in sub-Saharan Africa hold a bank account and only a sixth have formal savings.

At this event, which will mark the African Foundation for Development’s (AFFORD) 16th annual African Diaspora Development Day, speakers will discuss progress, innovative approaches and outstanding challenges in expanding financial inclusion. They will also outline the role that the African diaspora can play in supporting national governments and international actors to bridge this gap.

This event will be followed by an open reception.
