Chair: James de Waal, Senior Fellow, International Security, Chatham House

Mr Neal will discuss how his team approaches defence and security issues, including its aims and objectives and the particular challenges of dealing with the issue from within the Treasury.

This the second of a series of meetings on 'UK defence policy in its international context', which aims to inform and illuminate the policy debate over the coming months. The series considers the formulation of defence policy as a highly political process, and will explore how political, economic and presentational factors interact to shape policy.
