Can Liberal Foreign Policy Survive a Politics of Fear?

22 June 2017 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm

Chatham House, London

Nick Clegg, Europe Spokesperson, Liberal Democrats (2016-17); Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (2010-15); Leader, Liberal Democrats (2007-15)
Chair: Adam Ward, Deputy Director, Chatham House

In an ever-changing and uncertain global landscape, Nick Clegg outlines a set of reforms needed to safeguard the open international order against the forces of identity politics, nationalization and ‘strong man’ politics.

In association with the Liberal International British Group, this event is held in memory of Lord Garden, former director of Chatham House and a foreign affairs, defence and security expert. Following a 30-year career in the Royal Air Force, he pursued an active career in academia and politics.
