Can Libya Rebuild its Economy on Oil and Gas?
Ali Alhebri, Governor, Central Bank of Libya
Chair: Dr Neil Quilliam, Acting Head of MENA Programme, Chatham House
Central bank governor Ali Alhebri will review the impact on Libya’s economy of six years of war, civil conflict and political instability.
As the new UN-backed unity government looks to bring order to the country, Alhebri will outline what political and economic reforms are necessary to overcome the numerous challenges facing the Libyan energy industry. Given the local threats to supply and the global oil price collapse, can Libya really base an economic resurgence on the foundations of the hydrocarbon sector?
Attendance is strictly by invitation only. To enable as open a debate as possible, this event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
This event is only open to Major Corporate Member and Partner organizations of Chatham House. To register for this event, please RSVP to Linda Bedford.
