Combating Money Laundering in the Luxury Goods Sector
International focus on the financing of organised crime and terrorism has increased the importance of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and procedures. Government regulation of illicit financial flows is being complemented by industry initiatives. For the diamond and other high value good businesses the importance of AML practices goes beyond compliance and is of significant strategic importance to maintain consumer confidence.
At this workshop, industry experts, policy makers, regulators and civil society groups will draw comparisons of AML practices across high value goods markets, review the approach of the diamond industry, and discuss best practices for countering criminality and supporting legitimate demand.
