Cyber Security as a Dimension of Security Policy

18 May 2015 - 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Chatham House, London

Dr Norbert Riedel, Commissioner for International Cyber Policy, Federal Foreign Office, Germany
Chair: Caroline Baylon, Research Associate, Science, Technology, and Cyber Security, International Security Department, Chatham House

The attacks on Sony Entertainment in the US and TV5 Monde in France have shown once again how vulnerable the internet is and there are increasing concerns about potential cyber attacks on critical infrastructure. This also presents challenges for foreign policy: how can we achieve greater security in cyberspace, develop responsible behaviour of states and more trust towards one another? How can the UN, the EU and the OECD contribute? And, crucially: how can we reach a balance between security and the protection of privacy?

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.

This event is part of the International Security Department's Internet Governance seminar series, held in partnership with AIG.
