Dictators Without Borders: Power and Money in Central Asia
Alexander Cooley, Director, Harriman Institute, Columbia University; Professor of Political Science, Barnard College
Michael Levi, Professor of Criminology, Cardiff University
This event will explore the involvement of the supposedly isolated Central Asian states in economics, politics and security dynamics beyond its borders. Alexander Cooley and John Heathershaw will outline the key ideas developed in their new book, Dictators Without Borders: Power and Money in Central Asia. They will focus on how business networks, overseas courts and third-party brokers connect Central Asia’s leaders with global power centres.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
