Overview

Following civil unrest in 2013, the situation in Mozambique has improved. However, uncertainty surrounding the security situation in the country is likely to continue to be a concern for investors and international observers in the build-up to the general election in October 2014, particularly as the leader of the opposition party, Renamo, remains in hiding.

At this event Jose Pacheco, who has been leading the negotiations with Renamo on behalf of the Mozambican government, will provide an update on recent developments and offer his perspectives on challenges to the political dialogue in the run-up to the elections. He will also discuss the government’s strategy to enhance the agriculture sector, which accounts for 30 per cent of the country's GDP and 80 per cent of total employment.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
