Donald Trump vs Mexico: Myths and Realities
Andres Rozental, Senior Adviser, Chatham House; Former Mexican Diplomat; Founding President, Mexican Council on Foreign Relations
Chair: Jacob Parakilas, Assistant Head, US and the Americas Programme, Chatham House
The US and Mexico have long had a complex relationship, but the elevation of Donald Trump to the presidency has already increased bilateral tensions. Trump’s aggressive policy towards immigrants, his insistence that Mexico pay for a border wall with the US and his hostility towards free trade between the two have raised concerns about the state of the relationship. Ambassador Andrés Rozental will join us to examine how these policies might evolve and what the implications might be given the depth of the economic, cultural and historical ties between the two neighbours.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
