European Commission Presents: Winter 2017 Economic Forecast

14 February 2017 - 11:00 to 12:30

Chatham House, London

Carlos Martinez Mongay, Director, Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, European Commission
Chair: Stephen Pickford, Associate Fellow, International Economics Department, Chatham House

Economic activity in Europe is finally beginning to show encouraging signs of sustained growth, though it is doing so unevenly across the EU member states. However, the global economy is now beginning to face new challenges which have the potential to dramatically change this environment. In their Winter 2017 Economic Forecast, Carlos Martinez Mongay sets out his forecast of these challenges and how it might affect the larger European economy.

The forecast will be released on 13 February and serve as a basis for the European Commission’s economic surveillance procedures. Director Carlos Martinez Mongay will present his findings in the first of Chatham House’s International Financial Institution (IFI) Briefing series.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
