With a British referendum on EU membership edging closer, our panel will discuss whether there is such a thing as a European identity which is shared with the people of Britain.

What are the points of commonality that tie the people of 28 different members states to any sense of European-ness? Are any feelings of European identity weighed against, and indeed outweighed, by a sense of national heritage, tradition and patriotism? And will appeals to identity form an important part of the Brexit debate or do voters respond much more to specific concerns about substantive issues like the economy and national security?
