Extractive Industries and Public Health: Reducing the Risk of Health Emergencies

Chatham House, London

The Centre on Global Health Security is hosting a roundtable which will explore the impact of infectious diseases on the extractive industries and the interventions that can reduce the risk of outbreaks.

This roundtable will focus on partnerships that extractive companies and public sector groups can establish to improve prevention, shared preparedness and response capacities in regions where extractive operations are active.

This event will involve a series of presentations and panel discussions by leading experts from the extractive industries and global health, and will then be followed by a breakout session toward the end of the day. Participants will work in groups to discuss the issues raised and to conceptualise how multi-sector partnerships can work at both the international and national levels.
