FGM: Building an International Response
The World Health Organization estimated in 2013 that 120-140 million women and girls have experienced female genital mutilation (FGM). A recent study estimates that up to 170,000 of these women are in Britain and that as many as a further 65,000 girls aged 13 and under could be at risk. The panel will explore the impact of this practice on women and girls, and the opportunities for ending it. They will discuss what actions have been taken domestically and internationally to end the practice, and how further support around this issue can be mobilized.
