The Future of American Statecraft in Asia

Chatham House, London

US and the Americas Programme

Overview

The United States is in the midst of a substantial and long-term national project to reorient its foreign policy towards Asia. However, while the United States has intensified its focus on the region, progress in the ‘pivot’ to Asia has been slow and inconsistent. Kurt Campbell will argue that much more remains to be done and it is vital that the next US administration does not lose sight of this strategic policy transition.
